Caring for different floor types

Match your cleaning method to your floor material.

Identify the material and finish first

Wood, marble, granite, porcelain, ceramic tiles and concrete have different care needs. Check your floor supplier’s instructions and the cleaner label before starting. Test a new product on a hidden area.

Wood and parquet

Remove sand and hard particles regularly to reduce scratches. Use a soft broom, dry mop or suitable vacuum attachment. Fit protective pads to furniture feet and avoid dragging furniture across the floor.

Damp-cleaning wood

For remaining dirt, use a lightly damp, well-wrung cloth and a cleaner intended for the finish. The Sano guide names Poliwix Parquet; check its compatibility with your floor. Do not soak wood. Wipe away residual moisture and pick up spills immediately. Treat marks with a soft cloth rather than abrasive scrubbing.

Marble

Remove dust frequently and choose a mild, pH-neutral natural-stone cleaner. Acidic products can damage the surface. Do not exceed the dose; rinse away cleaner residue and dry with a soft cloth. Blot spills promptly to avoid spreading them. Furniture pads help reduce scratches.

Maintaining stone finishes

Crystallised or specially treated marble needs compatible care products. Ask a stone supplier or specialist about persistent stains, scratches, polishing and renewing protection. Whether sealing is needed, and how often, depends on the stone and finish; one maintenance schedule does not suit every floor.

Granite and porcelain

Remove loose dirt first. Wipe with a damp cloth and dry; do not pour water over the floor. Choose a cleaner suitable for the material and avoid wax residues on finishes that do not need them. Follow your supplier’s advice on restoring shine or protection.

Ceramic tiles

Use a tile cleaner without an unnecessary wax layer. Treat stubborn marks individually; a little mild dishwashing liquid may be used if the manufacturer permits. Test in a hidden spot and remove product residue.

Polished concrete

Identify the protective coating and choose a compatible cleaner. Clean with a damp cloth instead of pouring water over the surface. Only use wax or shine additives if the coating manufacturer permits them. Remove spills and stains promptly.
